Katy Perry slammed for mocking knife crime

Katy Perry will host the MTV Europe Music Awards on 6 Novmeber

Katy Perry has been condemned for making fun of knife crime.

The I Kissed A Girl singer caused outrage last week when a photo of her brandishing a 3in flick-knife was posted online.

But instead of apologising for the picture, Katy has replaced it on her official website with one of her waving a spoon in the air.

The caption reads: ‘But I do condone eating ice cream with a very large spoon.’

Katy, 24, has now been hit by a barrage of complaints from the families of young knife victims.

‘She has lost all integrity by this,’ Richard Taylor, father of murdered 10-year-old Damilola Taylor, tells The Sun.

‘It would have been better for her to have apologised. Youngsters would have seen that and taken it as something positive. Instead she has decided to challenge us.’

Other parents have even called for bosses to axe Katy from hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool next Thursday.
