The X Factor judge doesnt rate comedians recording as Geraldine McQueen
Monday, 27 October 2008
Simon Cowell has launched a scathing attack on Peter Kay, claiming his new single is 'stupid'.
The X Factor judge, 49, hit out at the comedian after Peter's song – as reality TV spoof character Geraldine McQueen – beat former X Factor winner Leon Jackson in the charts.
‘I thought the show was clever, but the record was stupid,’ he tells The Mirror. 'The single is a pathetic waste of time.’
Peter, 35, released The Winner's Song after featuring it on his show Britain’s Got The Pop Factor… And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice.
He has also recorded a charity Christmas song with Gary Barlow – which is set to battle this year’s X Factor winner for the coveted No1 spot.
‘He's going to bring out a Christmas single?’ Simon adds. ‘I don’t feel threatened in the slightest.
‘I’ve got something in mind for our Christmas single and I know which one I would put my money on.’
Both tracks are expected to be released on 15 December.
