Cheryl Cole has slammed the Spice Girls – despite being pals with Victoria Beckham.
The singer insists Girls Aloud are a better group because they’ve had more longevity.
‘We’ve been around for 6 years – they were around for 18 months!’ she says. ‘We recognise what the Spice Girls did, but it really annoys me when you meet girls who go: “We wannabe the next Spice Girls”.’
And Chezza, 25, insists that Posh, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell - who are now all in their thirties - never had the same chemistry as she and bandmates Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.
‘Yes, they had worldwide domination, but they fell out, bitched about each other and went their separate ways,’ she tells Attitude. ‘We’ve been around all this time, fighting to climb each step of the ladder, putting our hearts into everything.’
Cheryl, who found fame when Girls Aloud were formed on ITV1 show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, and Posh, 34, have become friends because their husbands are both footballers.
The Spice Girls debuted in 1994. They split in 2001, but reformed last year for a comeback tour.
