Ricky Gervais has admitted that he won't bow down to pressure from Hollywood to change his fuller figure.
The actor, 47, who made his name in Brit shows The Office and Extras, has seen movie roles flooding in but refuses to diet to play a character.
‘I’d never work out and lose weight if the part called for it. I’d say: “That’s not the film for me,”' he tells The Sun.
‘It’s not real life, it’s ludicrous. If you fall for someone because they’ve got a jawline and a chest and they’re brain dead, it won’t last!
‘In life, real people fall for nice people all the time and Hollywood denies that a bit. That’s what I brought over from Britain.’
Ricky is currently starring in US romantic comedy Ghost Town but admits the role isn't a stretch for him. ‘I play a miserable fat bloke!’ he says.
Ricky also hinted that Extras could return to the small screens.
‘I have an idea for one more Extras. I think it would be funny to see Andy trying to make it in Hollywood,’ he says.
