David Duchovny, who is separated from wife Téa Leoni, denies a report he had an affair with his tennis coach, the actor's lawyer tells PEOPLE.
"The stories about an alleged affair between David Duchovny and his tennis instructor, Edit Pakay, are completely false," attorney Larry Stein says.
The U.K.'s Mail on Sunday reports that the two became involved after Duchovny, 48, hired Pakay for private tennis lessons and that the pair had been "physical" for at least six months.
"Ms. Pakay denied the rumors to me in person last Friday, saying they are just friends, and in addition, said in writing that such stories are 'lies and deceit," he says.
Duchovny voluntarily checked himself into rehab for sexual addiction in August. He has remained friendly with Leoni, 42, since checking out in early October after having "successfully completed his treatment," according to Stein.
