Guy Ritchie's dad: Madonna is being beastly

Father-in-law John Ritchie thinks singer should keep quiet about divorce

Madonna confirmed her split from Guy Ritchie on Wednesday

Guy Ritchie’s father John has come to his son’s defence after Madonna appeared to criticise her soon-to-be-ex spouse in public last week.  

The Material Girl took a thinly-veiled swipe at the director, 40, while performing in Boston on Wednesday.

'This song is for the emotionally retarded,’ she said before performing Miles Away, a song about a couple growing apart. ‘Maybe you know some people who fall into that category. I know I do.'

But John, 78, thinks Madonna, 50, should keep quiet about her Guy and their failed marriage.

‘She’s being beastly… She's calling him an emotional retard.

'When he's being bashed by her, it's horrid,’ he says.

Madge is said to believe that Guy didn't show enough compassion when she injured herself in 2005 in a riding accident.

‘She is saying, “Did you ever love me?”’ John tells The Sun. ‘It goes back to a time when she fell off her horse and she’s blaming him for that.’
