Music legend is writing show for Ben Stiller
Friday, 17 October 2008
Sir Elton John has revealed that he's writing a show about a man dying from Aids.
The musician reckons it will make a brilliant comedy.
'I've got to write a film musical for Ben Stiller,’ he tells GQ.
‘It's about a guy on Broadway who is gay, has HIV and Aids and has to go back and face his wife and his kids that he left.
'It's very funny. The premise doesn't sound funny, but it is.'
Elton, 61, admits he's a fan of classic musicals.
‘West Side Story is the greatest musical ever written. But I don't like forced fun. I'm more drawn to tragedy than: "Lets all have a great time.”’
He has previously written music for Billy Elliot and Aida.

Ummmm. I think there is already a musical about dealing with AIDS in New York. Isn't it called Rent? In fact I'm almost positive there is. They've made a movie musical version too. I'm sure it'll be somewhat unique, but this probably isn't the most original idea ever spawned.
