But actor says he'll fight in court
Thursday, 16 October 2008
Ryan O'Neal faces a court appearance for possession of crystal meth.
The actor and his son Redmond were arrested on 17 September after officers searched their Malibu home and allegedly found methamphetamine.
Yesterday, the pair learned they will face charges.
Redmond, 23, also faces counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of pepper spray.
Ryan, 67, insists he’ll fight to prove his innocence.
‘It's unfortunate because Ryan O'Neal didn't possess methamphetamine, doesn't use methamphetamine and it wasn't his methamphetamine,’ his lawyer Mark Werksman tells Associated Press.
‘He never should have been prosecuted for this. We intend to vigorously challenge these charges in court, where they should be dismissed.’
The pair are due in court on 13 November.
