Gareth Gates to 'become a dad for first time'

Friends say the Pop Idol runner-up is thrilled

Gareth Gates and Suzanne Mole married this summer

Gareth Gates and new wife Suzanne Mole are reported to be expecting their first baby together.

The couple wed in a quiet ceremony in July and the mum-to-be is believed to have had her first scan last week.

‘All is well and Suzanne and I couldn’t be happier,’ Gareth told a pal, reports the Sunday Mirror.

The 9-year age difference between the couple has never bothered the singer.

'I haven't ever purposefully set out to be with an older woman,' Gareth told Now earlier this year. 'That's just the way it's always turned out for me.

'What I've always wanted from life is a wife and lots of kids. I'm not sure when that'll happen, but I hope it'll be soon.'

The Pop Idol runner-up, 24, and choreographer Suzanne, 33, got engaged on New Year's Eve, after 5 years together.

The baby is due in April.

Gareth's representative has not yet confirmed the good news.
