Dannii Minogue clashes with X Factor contestant Rachel Hylton

Mum-of-5 unhappy with mentor's song choice

Dannii Minogue is in charge of the over-25 contestants on The X Factor

Dannii Minogue had a bit of a barney with protégé Rachel Hylton before Saturday's live show.

The  X Factor judge, who is mentoring the over-25s, is said to have angered the feisty singer by insisting she perform Robyn’s single With Every Heartbeat.

‘I'm worried about the song because it's not in my comfort zone,’ the 26-year-old complained.

Dannii, who won the competition last year with Leon Jackson, is said to have laid down the law.

‘[I] chose the song because I know she can do the job,’ she explained. ‘I won last year and I know what I am doing.’

Simon Cowell damned Rachel's performance but blamed Dannii, 36, for 'filling a Ferrari with lemonade'.

But despite her misgivings and their spat, the mum-of-5 is staying loyal to the woman who is steering her career. 

‘I am going to have to trust Dannii. She's my mentor,’  she concedes. ‘She chose me for the final 12 and I am just going to fight to for my place.’

The X Factor airs Saturday at 7.15pm on ITV1, with the results show following at 10pm.
