Ricky Gervais: I built a gym at home so I never have to exercise in public

But comedian says he rarely uses it

Ricky Gervais has revealed that he’s installed a fitness centre in his New York apartment.

The comedian, 47, says he hates getting sweaty in front of others.

‘I bought a place in New York because I go there so often,’ he says. ‘We built a gym in the basement so I never have to exercise in public.’

But Ricky says he doesn’t use the state-of-the-art facility.

‘I’ll probably always feel guilty about spending money because I know I earn too much,’ he tells Psychologies.

‘My favourite thing in the world is to come home, have a swim, put my pyjamas on and open a bottle of wine.’
