Courtney Love has admitted to having an eating disorder in the past

Courtney Love’s recent weight loss is rumoured to be the result of stomach stapling rather than a strict diet.

The singer is said to have had the op in 2006 in LA after her weight ballooned to 13st.

‘She has always had problems with her appearance and is convinced she is ugly and fat. Two years ago she had a gastric band fitted at a surgery in Beverly Hills.

'As soon as she had the operation the excess weight started to drop off,’ a source tells the News Of The World.

After rumours of surgery first surfaced in the media last year, Courtney, 44, insisted her slimmer figure was due to healthy eating.

‘I lost weight the hard way and people can't accept it,’ she wrote on her MySpace blog. ‘Whenever anyone loses weight by determination and grit, it's suspect.

'I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim Fast. That's how I did it.’
