PETA is urging Ben & Jerrys to use the ingredient
Tuesday, 7 October 2008
Heather Mills is said to be backing a campaign to get ice cream manufacturers to use human breast milk.
The ex-model is apparently supporting PETA in its bid to get Ben & Jerry’s to include it in their products instead of cows' milk.
‘Heather is just 1 of the 2 million supporters of this idea,’ a source tells the Daily Star.
‘She’s a big supporter of Dr Benjamin Spock, America’s leading authority on child care, who says cows’ milk may play a role in anaemia, allergies, juvenile diabetes, obesity and heart disease.’
Last year, Heather, 40, sparked controversy when she urged the public to drink rats’ milk.
Tracy Reiman, PETA executive vice president, says: 'PETA’s request comes after reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting it for 75 per cent of the cows’ milk in the food that he serves.
'The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn’t make sense.'

OK, I'm no fan of Heather Mills--in fact, I think she's got a lot of emotional issues and should seriously get some professional help--however, the media is twisting this purposely in order to make a not-so-great person look even worse. I believe that if you do some research, you'll find that Mills has not actually been exhorting anyone to use or consume either rat or human milk; in effect, what she's actually been trying to get across is that consuming cow's milk (meant in nature to be consumed by infant cattle only) is as ridiculous a concept as consuming rat milk or (beyond infancy) human milk.
Wait, human breast milk? Not that I believe for one minute that Heather Mills said any such thing, because the press is funny like that, but human breast milk? Hello PETA? Are these lactating women eating meat then donating or selling their breast milk? Would you drink the milk from some woman's breast not knowing what she ate prior to the extraction? (Yes, insert your imagination here) Not very vegan...or vegetarian for that matter, ingesting milk, whomever it may come from...
