Pride Of Britain Awards 2008: Dannii Minogue takes cover
Dannii still has faith in her contestants

Dannii Minogue's dirty tricks fears

Dannii’s team fear the end of their X Factor dreams

Tuesday, 7 October 2008

There’s a growing fear deep in the hearts of Dannii Minogue’s team on The X Factor. They’re worried that their big shot at fame is about to be scuppered by a dirty tricks campaign from the three other X Factor judges – especially Simon Cowell.

Simon, 49, is expected to use every chance he gets to upset his rival contestants, undermine their confidence and play on their nerves.

‘It’s clear that the other judges, especially Simon, don’t want Dannii to win again this year,’ says one of her team’s hopefuls – widower Daniel Evans, who admits he was hoping to have Cheryl Cole, 25, rather than Dannii, 36, as his mentor.

‘They’re going to do everything to make us feel as bad as possible. They’re going to be tough on us.'

Daniel, 38, Spanish PR officer Ruth Lorenzo, 25, and former drug addict and convicted criminal Rachel Hylton, 26, make up Dannii’s contestants.

‘The problem is that the public listen to Simon and then start to believe that everything he says is true,’ says Alexandra Burke, 20, one of the hottest favourites to win this year and a member of Cheryl’s team.

Alexandra admits that one of the most nerve-racking parts of this year’s contest is going to be listening to Simon’s criticisms.

Over on Louis Walsh’s team – the groups – the feeling’s just the same. Phoebe Jay Lau, 17, from Girlband, says: ‘Simon’s already said a few things to us – he’s criticised our clothes – but we’re not going to let him upset us. If he keeps having a go, we’ll get someone to chin him!’

DANIEL EVANS October 08 20:57

just for the record, i initially wanted Cheryl as my audition moved her a lot, and was not sure if Dannii would get me and my type of music but i am happy to say my fears were unfounded. She has been amazing and we chat constantly. I'm happy to say i was wrong to ever doubt her as a mentor D x
