Nasty Nick is set to walk the Albert Square cobbles again.
The badboy, played by John Altman, 56, left EastEnders in 2001 after his mum Dot Cotton (June Brown, 81) disowned him for causing the death of his son Ashley.
‘I'm thrilled to return to Albert Square,’ John says. ‘I look forward to seeing if Nick will once again spread fear and loathing throughout the Square!’
Nick appeared in the first episode of the show in 1985.
‘Nick Cotton is an EastEnders legend,’ says the soap's executive producer Diederick Santer.
‘His complex relationship with Dot, his criminal tendencies, and his addictions to heroin, violence and everything else that's bad have make him one of the show's best-loved villains.’
