Football stories will be aimed at children over 7
Tuesday, 30 September 2008
David Beckham's football academy is to be the setting for a series of children’s stories.
The LA Galaxy star - who owns training schools in London and the US - is the motivation behind the books about a group of kids training at his academy.
Publishers think the series, which will include tips, a pull-out tactics board and statistics, will be a huge hit.
‘[They] are inspired by the training, coaching and development skills taught by The David Beckham Academy,' says a spokesperson for publishers Egmont. '[They] are not written by David himself.'
The first installment – which is yet to named – is to be released in June 2009.
A spokesman for star says: 'David is pleased that The Academy has inspired a series of books that will bring children to reading through football.'
Becks, 33, opened his first academy 3 years ago in London.
