Heather Mills refused upgrade on flight to New York

Model told she would have to pay for club class ticket

Heather Mills received £24.3 million in her divorce from Sir Paul McCartney

Heather Mills was left red faced last week when airline staff turned down her request for a free upgrade.

The former model booked a premium economy ticket on the British Airways flight – but is said to have asked for a club class seat when she arrived at the check-in desk.

She was told that she would have to pay £1,700 to be moved, which she declined.

‘Heather was muttering about not being upgraded which, if she'd still been Sir Paul's wife, she might have been,’ a fellow passenger tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘She seemed to think she would still be entitled to VIP treatment, but it seems the airline had other thoughts.

‘She was with another woman, telling her how she was giving away most of the money she got in the divorce. The implication was that, contrary to what people think, she isn't made of money.’

Heather, 40, made the trip to attend a charity meat-free barbeque in New York. She recently announced she would give away £1 million worth of vegan food to poor children in the city's Bronx district.
