SPOILER ALERT Police called to Coronation Street set

Actress's screams mistaken for real-life drama

Helen Flanagan has played Rosie Webster for 8 years

Police were called to the set of Coronation Street on Wednesday night after concerned locals mistook shouts from the show as real cries for help.

They were recording scenes where Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan, 18) was screaming for help after John Stape's (Graeme Hawley, 34) kidnaps and imprisons her.

‘We apologise to anyone unduly concerned,’ a spokesman says. ‘Due to the nature of the scenes, which are extremely dramatic, they did require Helen to scream very loudly.’

The scenes are set to air at the end of October.
