Jack Tweed is to launch a bid to cut his 18-month jail term.
He is being held at Chelmsford Prison, Essex, after being found guilty of assaulting a teenager with a golf club in 2006.
But his lawyers will argue that Jack, 21, should be given a reduced sentence because he needs to support ex Jade Goody, 27, as she battles cervical cancer.
'Jack didn't expect to be sent to prison,' a source tells the Daily Star Sunday. 'He wants to get out as soon as possible to be with Jade and her 2 boys.'
Jade, who had a hysterectomy last week, is now expected to start a course of radio and chemotherapy.
