Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, says for a long time he felt responsible for a a young woman’s death in 2002.
Four hours after one of his famous beach parties, the girl died falling off a promenade.
'She had been to a nightclub andn taken a lot of drugs and alcohol,' he recalls.
‘The headlines were all "Carnage, chaos and disaster – and Norman doesn’t care". I was accused of manslaughter.
'I sent flowers to her funeral and her parents wrote back, saying that I shouldn’t let it haunt me. They told me not to torture myself.’
Norman, 45, says neighbour Paul McCartney gave him and wife Zoe Ball a good piece of advice.
‘Paul told me that whenever he was getting flak about something he just left the country,’ he tells Live magazine. ‘Because no one can find you and you can’t read the newspapers.
'I took Zoe to France and we drove around for a few days.'
