Ricky Gervais: People should shout at me for being fat

Comedian wants to be shamed into dieting

Ricky Gervais was in The Office

Chubby Ricky Gervais thinks obese people should be called names to encourage them to lose weight.

The comedian admits he has to throw away his clothes every three months because he gets too big for them.

‘I don’t think there’s enough stigma,’ he says. ‘With all the political correctness now, and the fact that food is so refined, there’s no stigma anymore.

‘I laugh about being fat but I should be ashamed. I should walk down the street and have people shouting “Fatty”. That’s what I want, to get me out of it.

'I get up in the morning, look in the mirror, and say to myself “Oh, you f***ing fat bastard”.’

Ricky, 47, wants food retailers to get in on the act, too.

‘In supermarkets, the really fattening stuff should be behind a really thin door,’ he says on his The Ricky Gervais Show podcast.

‘Shops should be full of salads but if you want to get the pies and cakes, you’ve got to crawl through a little tube.’
