Singer avoids £5,000 bash at Soho nightspot
Monday, 15 September 2008
Amy Winehouse shunned her own 25th birthday bash at the weekend.
The singer’s dad Mitch, 57, booked Soho's Jazz After Dark to toast the occasion and even bought her a guitar-shaped cake.
Musician pal Remi Nicole, 25, also ordered three cabs to Amy’s house in Camden, north London, to ferry her to the venue.
But the star left guests, including Adele, 20, Mark Ronson, 33, and Nick Grimshaw, 24, to party on without her until 2.30am.
‘Amy was standing in front of the mirror telling everyone how rough she looked,’ a source tells The Sun.
'She kept saying she was ugly and was in an awful state. They couldn’t get her out.’
The venue's landlord Sam Shaker says he was more concerned for Amy’s 53-year-old mother.
'It was her mum Janis that I felt so sorry for,’ he tells the Daily Mirror. ‘She was crying - she was so upset.’
