Desperate Housewives actress was first choice to play Carrie Bradshaw
Friday, 12 September 2008
Desperate Housewives star Dana Delaney has revealed that she was offered the role of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City – but turned it down.
Dana also rejected the role of Wisteria Lane's Bree Van de Kamp – then kicked herself when the programme did so well.
‘I’m famous for turning down Sarah Jessica Parker’s role in Sex And The City,’ she says.
‘Marc Cherry [Desperate Housewives' creator] asked me if I’d be interested in playing Bree, but it felt too similar to a role I’d just done in a show called Pasadena.
‘Then it became a huge hit and I did think: "What have I done?"' she tells We Love Telly.
Luckily Dana, 52, was given a second chance with the part of Katherine Mayfair, who joined in season 4.
