Russell Brand tipped to host MTV VMAs next year

Comedian proves a hit with show producers

Russell Brand was fired from MTV for dressing as Osama bin Laden the day after 9/11

Russell Brand impressed MTV bosses so much at the Video Music Awards in LA that they’ve apparently asked him back.

The comic branded President George Bush a ‘retarded cowboy’ and called Britney Spears, 26, a ‘female Christ’.

But Russ, 33, insists they want him to host the ceremony again in 2009.

‘My phone hasn't stopped ringing,’ he tells the Daily Mirror. ‘Most people thought it was great and I'm pleased with how it went.

‘The executive producer came up to me straight after the show and asked me to sign up to do next year's awards too.

'The viewing figures went up 20% on last year's show which is unbelievable. I'm really flattered.'
