Hollyoaks' Mercedes McQueen tells how the romantic Liverpool star convinced her to give him a second chance

Jennifer Metcalfe is back together with Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has revealed how footballer Jermaine Pennant won her heart.

The couple first began dating in November last year but split in January, blaming work commitments.

Liverpool star Jermaine, 25, was said to be 'gutted' at the break-up – and set about winning back the actress, who plays Mercedes McQueen.

'He asked me out and when he picked me up in the car he was playing a CD he’d made of all the songs that meant something to us,' Jennifer, 25, says.

'He took me to a gorgeous house which he’d filled with flowers and tea lights. He’d got a butler and a chef and champagne…

'He won me back and now we’re having a fantastic time together. I’m really happy.'

Jennifer is currently starring in a serious Aids scare storyline in the soap after her character sleeps with Malachy Fisher, who is HIV positive.
