Actor says ex Kim Basinger makes things difficult
Monday, 1 September 2008
Alec Baldwin has reignited his feud with ex-wife Kim Basinger by accusing her of turning their daughter against him.
The actor is convinced the actress, 54, is trying to destroy his relationship with 12-year-old Ireland.
‘Think I'm walking stiffly?’ he tells US magazine the New Yorker. ‘Yeah, there's a 120lb actress on my back.
'Parental alienation is about people who narcissistically project their whole reality on to a child – “I don't need you, so the child doesn't need you”.
‘The goal of the alienating parent is to kill contiguous time. People need reliability. They need regularity.
'And I've been the victim of a campaign to kill all of that. You end up being more an uncle than a father.’
Alec, 50, also claims his ex-wife inexplicably feared for her life after they split, recalling a time they looked at a cliff-top home for him to rent.
'I said: "You've gotta come over here and look at this." She said: "No, no, come back, we've got to go. We're late."
'And then I thought "she thinks I'm going to throw her off this cliff!"'
