David Duchovny is being treated for sex addiction.
The X-Files star has asked to be left alone while he seeks help.
‘I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,’ he said in a statement.
‘I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.’
David, 48, has been married to actress Téa Leoni since May 1997.
They have daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd Miller, 6.
In the past, the actor, who plays a sex addict in US show Californication, has denied having an insatiable sexual appetite.
‘I'm not a sex addict,’ he told Playgirl in 1997. ‘I have never been to those meetings.
'It's hurtful to my family and if I was involved with a woman in a monogamous relationship, it would be hurtful to her.’
