Alanis Morissette: I was banned from making eye contact with Vanilla Ice

Singer was asked not to look at the rapper

Alanis Morissette was 15 when she opened for the Ice Ice Baby rapper

Alanis Morissette says supporting Vanilla Ice on tour wasn’t an enjoyable experience.

The singer claims she was ordered not to make eye contact with the rapper, real name Robert Van Winkle, when they hit the road together in 1991.

‘I was instructed not to look him in the eye and that was my first experience of honouring someone’s privacy to the point where you look away when they come near you,’ she told Virgin Radio.

‘I thought, “Wow, I didn’t think that actually existed!”’

Alanis, 34, has sold 55million albums worldwide and has seven Grammy awards.
