Doctor Who could be made into movie

Time Lord could be headed for the big screen

Doctor Who head writer Steven Moffat says he's up for making a film version of the hit BBC show.

The producer has taken over from Russell T Davies as the person in charge of the cult sci-fi programme.

And he is keen to see the Time Lord make the transition to the big screen.

'A movie is a one-off 90 minutes a year,' he says. 'So yes, as long as it never gets in the way of the show.

'It would be good to see it in the cinema, so long as it's great and fantastic.'

And insiders reckon current Doctor, David Tennant, 36, is also enthusiastic about the idea.

'It's well known that David would love to play the Doctor on the big screen,' a source tells the Daily Express.

'David has obviously played such a huge part in Doctor Who's success recently and he certainly wouldn't want to pass up the chance of appearing as him in the cinema.'

A TV movie of Doctor Who, which was filmed in Canada, did air in the US in 1996 with Paul McGann is the leading role but it wasn't a ratings success.
