Wayne Rooney signs £1m deal with Mercedes-Benz

Footballer could appear in company's commercials

Wayne Rooney already has a sponsorship deal with Nike and Hovis

Wayne Rooney has been unveiled as the new face of Mercedes-Benz.

The footballer, who has a fleet of luxury vehicles, signed a two-year £1million deal with the car giant.

As part of the agreement, Wayne, 22, has already taken delivery of a customised CL63 Coupe worth £121,200.

But the contract stipulates he must only drive Mercedes vehicles to matches and training sessions.

‘Wayne’s a big fan of Mercedes and he bought wife Coleen McLoughlin an SLK 280 for her birthday two years ago,’ a source tells the Mail On Sunday.

‘He is a car lover and has a beautiful collection of cars.

'But now Coleen will have to drive them, or he’ll have to make do with driving them off-road as he is only allowed to drive Mercedes to most events.'

Insiders say Wayne might even appear in commercials for the company.

Wayne's spokesman said: ‘I can confirm Wayne has just completed an initial two-year deal with Mercedes.'
