Former popstar to be deported from Vietnam
Tuesday, 19 August 2008
Gary Glitter has been released from prison.
The convicted paedophile served 27-months for molesting two Vietnamese girls, aged 10 and 11.
It is thought he will board a flight to Bangok, Thailand, this afternoon, where he is expected to change planes and return to the UK.
‘He has served his sentence and the authorities in Vietnam will deport him,’ his lawyer tells the BBC.
‘He does not have any sentence to serve in London. If he wants to stop wherever he wants to, he can do that.’
If Gary, 64, does decide to fly back to England, he will be forced to sign the sex offenders’ register.
Nine years ago the disgraced star, real name Paul Gadd, was jailed in the UK for possession of child pornography. He served two months.
