French President Nicolas Sarkozy's wife says she's insignifcant
Sunday, 17 August 2008
Carla Bruni says marrying French President Nicolas Sarkozy has turned her life upside down.
The singer and ex-model says being the first lady of France has bought her into a whole new world, which sometimes makes her feel insignificant.
‘I feel like a brick in the wall, just a small brick,’ she says. 'I feel like a woman in love with a man who brings her into a universe that she doesn’t know.
‘But he himself is in love with a woman who brings him into a universe he doesn’t know either. So it's an effort for him as well.'
But Carla, 40, has no regrets about her whirlwind relationship with her 53-year-old husband.
‘Love is a refuge,’ she tells The Sunday Times magazine. ‘Even if one of the lovers is a singer and the other is a president.’
