Madonna is NOT adopting Malawi girl

Her rep Liz Rosenberg says reports are false

Singer Madonna and Guy Ritchie adopted son David Banda from Malawi in 2006

Madonna will not be adopting 3-year-old Mercy James from an orphanage in Africa.

The singer was said to have fallen in love with the youngster when she went to visit Malawi last year.

And the country's adoption minister Penstone Kilembe said she was filling out all the essential paperwork to take her home.

But Madonna’s rep insists it isn’t true.

‘Madonna has not made an attempt to adopt this baby earlier this year or now,’ Liz Rosenberg tells Us Weekly.

‘There is no truth to this rumour. It's an old one - wasn't true then or now. Madonna is starting her tour in a week.’

Madonna, who turns 50 on Saturday, adopted 3-year-old David Banda in 2006.

She is also mum to daughter Lourdes, 11, with ex Carlos Leon, and has son Rocco, 9, with husband Guy Ritchie, 39.
