Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle has hit out at Big Brother, branding the show’s contestants idiots.

The actor – who plays policeman Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap – says he can't believe the arrogant attitude of some housemates.

‘They don’t know how to speak to people,’ he says. ‘I‘ve been in the presence of one when they said: "Do you know who I am," to a bouncer! I just thought: "You idiot."

‘The show breeds fame-hungry idiots, I think they’re ridiculous.’

The 27-year-old actor says he would only appear on a reality show if it was to learn a new skill.

‘I’d do something like Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing On Ice,’ he says. 'They would be fun.'
