Singer chatted up by comedian in promo
Tuesday, 12 August 2008
Britney Spears has recorded two ads with Russell Brand to promote next month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
In the clips, she is seen on a chez lounge with the comedian, who will host the annual ceremony.
Russell, 32, tries to chat up the singer, 26, and tells her to remember his surname as she’ll soon be ‘Britney Brand’.
‘Russell is being his usual cocky self in the video, playing the sexuality card with Britney,’ a source tells The Sun.
‘But Britney has the measure of him, saying she doesn’t feel any tension – before referring to him as Russell Brown.
'She looks back to her best in the video and seems to have put all her troubles behind her.’
LL Cool J, 40, and Pete Wentz, 29, also recorded interviews with Russell for the promos.
Last year, Britney made her eagerly awaited comeback at the VMAs.
But her performance of Gimme More was panned and fans booed as a bloated Brit writhed around on stage in a black bikini.
The MTV VMAs will take place on 7 September in LA.
