Animal rights supporter considering legal action after furrier Hockley uses her lingerie in autumn campaign
Monday, 11 August 2008
Stella McCartney is said to be planning legal action after a Mayfair fur boutique used her lingerie in its new print ad.
In the campaign for Hockley, the model is wearing a bra from the designer's collection under a mink coat.
Vegetarian Stella, 36, is well known for her pro-animal stance and refuses to use leather or fur in any of her designs.
‘Stella went absolutely ballistic when she saw it,’ says a source. ‘She hit the roof and said that she planned to sue.
‘She allows her accessories to be lent to shoots all the time, but she would never ever allow anything of hers to go to a fashion house that deals exclusively with fur. Stella is disgusted.'
Hockley has apologised as says it has no plans to repeat the ad, which appears in the September issue of Vogue.
‘Hockley is aware of Stella McCartney’s views and is respectful of them,’ a spokesperson tells the Mail On Sunday.
‘This was an unfortunate mistake and Hockley would not intentionally make anyone feel uncomfortable. It is not Hockley’s intention to use the image again.’
Stella’s spokesman declined to comment.
