Morgan Freeman leaves hospital after crash

Actor says he's recovering well after accident

Morgan Freeman stars in The Dark Knight

Morgan Freeman has been discharged from hospital following his car crash last Sunday.

The Dark Knight actor underwent 4 hours of surgery for extensive arm injuries after his vehicle flipped over on a highway in Memphis.

‘I left the hospital today just after 12 noon, Memphis time,’ he tells Entertainment Tonight.

‘I'm doing very well. I feel real good. I just really, I thank the staff at Elvis Presley [medical facility] and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers.

'It's great to know people care about you.’

He and his female passenger, Demaris Meyer, had to be cut free from the wreckage and were airlifted to hospital.

Since the crash, Morgan, 71, has announced his separation from wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.
