Singer dumps current manager Benny Medina
Thursday, 7 August 2008
Usher's mum has been reinstated as his manager.
The singer, 29, ended his working relationship with Jonnetta Patton in 2007 and employed Benny Medina.
But he has rehired his mum, who has 15 years experience in the business.
‘I decided to not fire, not get rid of, but to give [my mother] the ultimate compliment — to retire her to be a full-time grandmother,’ he tells Vibe magazine.
‘My mother and I decided to change her situation, together. There was a conversation. I didn't write her a letter or pink slip her.’
US reports claim he was disappointed with sales of his latest single Here I Stand.
‘People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother,’ a source tells the New York Daily News.
‘Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does.’
It was rumoured Usher fell out with his mum over his relationship with wife Tameka Foster, with whom he has 9-month-old son, Usher Raymond V.
But he strongly denies there was a feud.
