SHOCK! Morgan Freeman splits from wife Myrna Colley-Lee

Actor and missus parted ways in December

Morgan Freeman met costumer Myrna Colley-Lee in 1976 and they married in 1984

Morgan Freeman has broken up with his wife Myrna Colley-Lee after 24 years.

The Dark Knight star - who was involved in a serious car crash on Sunday – split from her at Christmas but kept it quiet.

‘[They] are involved in a divorce action,’ lawyer Bill Luckett tells Access Hollywood.

‘For legal and practical purposes, [Morgan and Myrna] have been separated since December of 2007.’

Morgan, 71, has 4 children - 2 from his previous marriage to Jeanette Bradshaw and 2 from earlier relationships.

He is currently recovering in the Regional Medical Center in Memphis following extensive surgery on his arm.

His female passenger, Demaris Meyer, was also treated in hosptal after the crash.

Both had to be cut free from the wreckage and airlifted to hospital.
