Morgan Freeman is said to be making a full recovery following a 4-hour operation.

The Dark Knight actor was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis after crashing his car on Sunday night.

He and his passenger, Demaris Meyer, had to be cut from the wreckage after the vehicle flipped over twice and landed in a ditch.

‘Morgan is doing well after surgery last night to reconnect nerves and to repair damage to his left arm and hand,’ his rep tells Entertainment Tonight.

‘He is in good spirits and was visiting with family members this morning.’

It is thought Morgan, 71, was walking around after the op. He is expected to be released from hospital later this week.

Demaris is at home with her family.

Meanwhile, The Dark Knight has become the quickest film to make $400million in 18 days at the US box office.

The last film was Shrek 2, which did it in 43 days.
