The Dark Knight actor involved in serious car crash

Morgan Freeman is being treated at a hospital in Memphis

Morgan Freeman has been airlifted to hospital following a major car accident.

The Dark Knight actor was travelling though Mississippi with an unidentified woman when he crashed at around 11.30pm last night.

No other vehicles were involved, reports TMZ, and he was conscious and talking at the scene.

Morgan, 71, is being treated at a nearby medical centre. The condition of his passenger is unknown.

Last month, Batman co-star Christian Bale crashed into an oncoming vehicle in West Hollywood.

He was treated for a severe hand injury in hospital.
