Actress kept quiet about the incident for 25 years

Julie Walters has revealed a paedophile attempted to abuse her when she was 10.
The Mamma Mia! actress, 58, was with 3 pals when she was approached by a man in the garden of a derelict house in Smethwick, West Midlands.
‘He made us stand on a wall, said “stay there” and went looking for somewhere to take us,’ she explains.
‘He touched me. It was nothing horrific, but it could have been. It was the start of a sexual assault.'
Fortunately, Julie, now 58, was able to escape before anything more serious happened.
‘We managed to attract the attention of some people at a bus stop and ran away,’ she tells the Daily Mirror.
‘I thank God those people were there because we were so scared.'
Julie refused to report the incident for fear of being told off by her convent teachers, and only told her mum after 25 years.
And she says writing about the attack in her new autobiography has brought back all the memories.
‘Writing about the incident made me feel sick,’ she adds. ‘As an adult you look back at all the details you didn't understand then.
'Now I know what he wanted. It's frightening.’
