34-year-old man arrested over twisted online story
Monday, 28 July 2008
An internet blogger has been charged over a twisted online story about raping and murdering Girls Aloud.
The 34-year-old man was arrested after a year-long investigation into the perverted site, which documents ‘the very sexy deaths of all five members of the world’s sexiest all-girl group’.
Police were called when floods of complaints about the blog were received at the Internet Watch Foundation.
Readers were sickened by the graphic details of the story, about a sex monster who abuses Cheryl Cole, 25, Sarah Harding, 26, Nadine Coyle, 23, Kimberley Walsh, 26, and Nicola Roberts, 22.
In the fantasy, the killer hacks them to death and sells their body parts on eBay.
Despite the violent nature of the blog, the unnamed writer from Tyneside insists he didn’t mean any harm.
‘Yes, I did write the stuff about Girls Aloud and I’m sorry If I caused offence or worry,’ he tells the Sunday People.
‘It wasn’t what I intended. What I wrote was just a fantasy thing. It was harmless.’
He is due to appear in court tomorrow to face charges under the Obscene Publication Act.
