Jake Hendricks has played Hollyoaks' gay priest Father Kieron for the past 9 months

The actor who plays Hollyoaks’ gay priest Father Kieron Hobbs is quitting after less than a year on the show.

Jake Hendricks, 26, filmed his final scenes last week but will be on screen until September.

‘It's been an honour to play such an interesting and unusual character and I hope that I've done Father Kieron justice,’ he says.

‘It's been great being part of the family at Hollyoaks and I'd like to thank everyone for making my time here so enjoyable.’

Kieron arrived on the Channel 4 soap at the start of the year and was involved in an illicit affair with John Paul McQueen, played by James Sutton.

James, 25, is also set to leave the show later this year.
