Adele has vowed to stay off booze before gigs

Adele: My song's not about having a tongue up your bum

Chasing Pavements has an odd meaning in the States

Monday, 21 July 2008

Adele was left red-faced when she discovered the title of her hit single Chasing Pavements has a crude meaning in the States.

‘There’s this thing called Urban Dictionary and apparently “chasing pavements” means going out trying to find someone to stick your tongue up their bum,’ she says.

‘That’s disgusting! The song’s not about that at all! It’s so annoying.’

Adele, 20, says she avoided booze when she toured the US because of a bad experience at a previous gig.

‘I thought I was on at 9pm but I was actually on at 2am,’ she tells Metro.

‘It was my first proper gig so I invited all my friends and family and they kept buying me drinks.

'I was so drunk I missed out the chorus to a song and fell off my stool.

‘It was so embarrassing. I never drink before gigs now.’

That would be funny if it were true! I am from the US and have never heard that one. I have heard it called getting your kitchen cleaned.

She's lucky she's British. Otherwise she'd just be another fat girl with a mediocre talent. Kelly Osbourne comes to mind. Better voice, more talented, more stage presence, better bloodline, but not popular at all because she doesn't fit the "look".

Who cares what she looks like? She's got a hell of a lot talent. At least she writes her own songs unlike all the American Idol crap that exists who have some voice but no real enduring talent. I'd rather listen to this any day to that garbage.

It's not true... chasing pavements doesnt have an 'odd meaning'. The reference to the dictionairy exists and has this explanation, however: if you look at the date this meaning was added, you will see it was AFTER adele wrote this song. So probably somebody made it up who didnt like Adele...Adele has a great great voice and lots of talent, if you had just listened to her albums or performances. She writes songs herself. This music is wonderful!
