Tom Cruise to make Top Gun sequel

Actor to reprise his role as rookie pilot Maverick

Tom Cruise starred in Top Gun 22 years ago

Tom Cruise is in talks to make a follow up to hit film Top Gun.

The actor, 46, became an overnight sex symbol when he played rookie pilot Maverick in 1986.

'The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot,' a source tells The Sun.

Top Gun also launched the career of Val Kilmer, 48, who played Iceman.
