Babyshambles star sings for Daniel Squires after his tragic death
Wednesday, 16 July 2008
Pete Doherty surprised mourners at a teenager's wake on Monday when he got up to perform a moving set.
The Babyshambles star wanted to pay tribute to 16-year-old Daniel Squires, who died from bone cancer on 4 July. Pete, 29, had met the Tyneside fan at a gig.
He got up with one of Daniel’s friends for the impromptu performance at the Golden Lion pub in South Shields.
‘He was here for around an hour and a half,’ pub manager Lynette Gale tells the Daily Mirror.
‘He said that he wanted to come up to pay tribute. It was a lovely gesture and made it all special.’

People always go on about pete like he's some horrible person - being a junkie doesn't make you a monster and this clearly shows that he is very caring. how many other stars do you know that would do this? most don't even sign autographs for fans.
