Britain's Got Talent winner caught in unpaid council tax row
Thursday, 10 July 2008
George Sampson and his mum Lesley were left in shock when 2 bailiffs barged into their home demanding money.
They were pursuing £500 unpaid council tax owed by George’s older brother Luke, 20.
Lesley was so intimidated by the men she handed over the money.
‘Lesley was really shaken,’ a pal reveals. 'The bailiffs just pushed their way past her. It’s disgraceful.’
George, 15 – who won £100,000 on Britain's Got Talent – offered to pay but his mum refused.
‘Lesley wouldn’t hear of it and told him to save his money,’ the friend tells the The Sun.
‘George keeps saying he wants to pay off the mortgage, but Lesley says it’s his money and wants him to keep it in his savings.’
The family, who live in Warrington, Cheshire, have had to cover their windows with newspaper to stop people taking photos of George.
A spokeswoman for the youngster confirmed there had been a disturbance: ‘The police were called because the family felt unsafe with the way these people entered their home.’
