National Television Awards nominees announced

EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks in running for Most Popular Soap

Kym Ryder looks sophisticated
Corrie's Kym Ryder is favourite for the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance Award

The nominations for this year’s National Television Awards have been revealed - and it looks to be a fierce battle between the stars of the small screen.

As usual, the soaps will take centre stage. EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street are front-runners in the Most Popular Serial Drama category.

Corrie is favourite to come out best on the night overall.

Michelle Keegan, 21, who plays Tina McIntyre, is expected to scoop the Most Popular Newcomer gong, while Kym Ryder, 32, (pictured) is favourite for the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance Award.

Her former Hear’Say bandmate Myleene Klass, 30, will take on the likes of Davina McCall, 40, Jonathan Ross, 47, and Dale Winton, 53, in the Most Popular Entertainment Presenter field.

The Most Popular Talent Show category also looks to be hotly contested. Britain's Got Talent, DanceX, Dancing On Ice, I'd Do Anything, Strictly Come Dancing, The One And Only, and The X Factor will all battle it out.

Then there’s the heavyweight clash of the reality programmes and chatshows with Big Brother, Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! among those vying for the Most Popular Entertainment Programme gong.

The National Television Awards will take place in October at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The event will be hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald, 68.
