SEE VIDEO Kylie Minogue awarded OBE

Kylie Minogue has been recognised for her contribution to the music industry.

The Aussie singer – who last year celebrated 20 years in the business – was presented with an OBE at Buckingham Palace earlier today.

She was watched by proud parents Ron and Carol and younger sister Dannii as she curtseyed before Prince Charles.

‘I expected to be a little nervous, obviously very excited, but it was very emotional seeing all these people from different walks of life joining together for this event,’ she tells the Daily Telegraph.

‘It is an incredible honour for me to receive this award. It makes me feel both humble and proud to be recognised for doing a job that I love so much.’

In May, Kylie, 40, collected France's highest cultural honour, the Order Of Arts And Letters.

She also received a Centenary Medal from Australia's governor-general for 'outstanding contribution to the music industry’ in 2003.
